I…see dancehall as this kind of waterhole that re-enforces and affirms certain kinds of cultural beliefs…it spins right back into the wider Jamaican context…You will find that a lot of the ideas that we have as a people here are rippled throughout the Black Diaspora and I’ve even seen a very strong correlation between dancehall and rap culture and hip hop culture, and the same kind of contradictions also exist there…
